Meet the owner Lin Been

Lin was born in Guthrie Oklahoma. She was in Texas by the age of ten. Like all of us, she got here as quickly as she could. As a young woman she ventured away from Texas again, but no matter where she was, she was listening to great Texas/Americana music. She was listening to Jerry Jeff Walker, Ray Wiley Hubbard, Asleep at the wheel and Bob Wills in the early 70’s. She spent time in Florida, where she found her second love and life’s work. Plants. But she had to get back to Texas!

Her love for music has been with her through the years. In the early eighty’s she found the Sons of Hermann Hall, in Dallas, and the Kerrville Folk Festival, in Kerrville Texas. She started holding gatherings in her back yard in east Dallas in 1986. She pulled together pickers and campers to come together to celebrate music and friendship. They camped in her forty-foot greenhouse and in the yard. They played their music around an illegal campfire. They came every year, year after year, to the house on Eastside, Dallas, Texas. USA

She moved to the country in late 1992 to a five-acre tract with huge Oak trees. There she lived in a greenhouse for six years. The gatherings continued twice a year. Year after year, they still came. The campfire grew bigger and the pickers were better and better. When she knew it was time to relocate again she searched relentlessly for Rancho Frijole, where there would be more room for more people to gather. Realizing that this is her love and perhaps her calling. She decided it was time to give it a go as a small business. I guess the rest is history and we invite you to be part of that history to unfold.
